Types and clinical and laboratory stages of manufacturing dental prostheses for the treatment of patients with oncological diseases of the lower jaw.

Prosthetics after resection of the jaws.

Resection of the jaws is performed for various neoplasms. Prostheses designed to replace lost tissues and organs, restore impaired functions (chewing, swallowing, speech, breathing), form a bed (prosthetic field) for a permanent prosthesis are called replacement prostheses. Prostheses made during resection of the jaws are called post-resection prostheses. Distinguish between immediate post-resection prosthetics and delayed prosthetics. With immediate post-resection prosthetics, a replacement prosthesis is made before the operation and put on immediately after the operation (on the operating table), but no later than 24 hours (immediate prostheses). Delayed prosthetics is divided into early or immediate prosthetics, which is carried out as soon as possible after the operation during the wound healing period, that is, in the first two weeks, and later or distant prosthetics, not earlier than 1.5-2 months later.
