ECG Interpretation - 3

The analysis of the electrocardiogram should begin with determining the nature of the rhythm (regularity of heart contractions) and the source of excitation of the heart rhythm.

1. Determining the rhythm and its frequency.

2. Determining the position of the axis

3. Evaluation of intervals and conduction disturbances

- duration of the P wave, PQ interval, QRS complex, QRST interval - for segments - deviation from the isoline, shape and magnitude of the shift.

4. Analysis of the P, Q, R, S, T waves, ST segment (severity, polarity, amplitude, shape is normal).

5. ECG conclusion:

- regularity of the rhythm (regular, irregular).

- rhythm (sinus, non-sinus).

- voltage.

- heart rate (HR).

- determination of the position of the electrical axis of the heart.

- in case of pathology: presence of one of the ECG syndromes: a) rhythm disturbance (specify the type); b) conduction disturbance (specify the type); c) atrial / ventricular hypertrophy or overload of the myocardium; d) myocardial damage (ischemia, injury, necrosis, scar).
